Former Nintendo Switch exclusive 'SteamWorld Dig 2' lands on Xbox One (update)

Updated November 19, 2018: Developer Image & Form confirmed that the game was coming to Xbox One next week for $19.99.

Did you play SteamWorld Dig on Xbox One all those years ago? Did you enjoy the story and the mining experience? Well, beforehand you were out of luck because SteamWorld Dig 2 was a Nintendo Switch exclusive which eventually came to PlayStation 4 and even Nintendo 3DS. This left Xbox One owners in a perplexed state because it wasn't clear if the game would ever come to the system.

Today, Xbox Wire revealed that SteamWorld Dig 2 is launching on Xbox One on November 21, 2018. It's unclear if this is a leak or an announcement because developer Image & Form made no formal statement. We've reached out to the team for comment and shall update you as soon as we receive a response.

According to the studio, SteamWorld Dig 2 takes you on a platform mining adventure forged in Metroidvania flames. When an old trading town is struck by mysterious earthquakes, it's up to a lone "steambot" and her unlikely companion to uncover what trembling terrors lie beneath. You must dig your way underground and explore vivid worlds riddled with treasure, secrets, and traps. However, keep in mind that you'll combat dangerous enemies at every turn of the underworld's twisted paths, including shadowy creatures and the haunted remains of an ancient electrical threat.
