Elden Ring: How to get the Twinblade early
Get your hands on one of Elden Ring's best early game weapons.
There are a huge number of different weapons that you can find in Elden Ring's open world, and the Twinblade is arguably the best one available for melee-focused Dexterity or Quality builds in the early game. With its excellent damage and great moveset, the Twinblade will carry you through the game's first few areas — especially if you upgrade it.
Perhaps the best thing about the Twinblade, though, is the fact that you can easily get it with minimal effort within five minutes of starting the game. Here's a quick guide that goes over everything you need to know about getting the Twinblade early, including where you can find it and what stats you'll need to wield it.
Elden Ring: Twinblade location and how to get
The location of the Twinblade is remarkably close to Elden Ring's starting area, though you'll need to find three Sites of Grace in Limgrave to receive your mount, Torrent, to actually access it. Once you've unlocked your mount, head directly east from The First Step Site of Grace to the Dragon-Burnt Ruins. To get to the Twinblade's location, you'll then need to go to the south side of the ruins and use Torrent to double-jump over the high walls there. The location of this spot is shown in the map above.
Behind these walls is a staircase that leads down into a secret room with a treasure chest. Open the treasure chest to receive the Twinblade. You can then exit the area by either double-jumping back over the walls with Torrent or by fast traveling to a Site of Grace.
Elden Ring: Twinblade stats and moveset
To use the Twinblade, you'll need at least 10 Strength and 18 Dexterity, meaning that you'll probably need to level your Dexterity up a bit if you're playing a freshly made character. The weapon starts with D scaling in both Strength and Dexterity, but the scaling improves as you upgrade the weapon with Smithing Stones. Pairing a Twinblade with lots of Dexterity will result in one of the best Elden Ring builds for the early game. Note that you can also change the scaling of the weapon by using Ashes of War if you want it to scale better with other stats instead.
The Twinblade is better than many other early game weapons because of its high damage and its rapid attack speed, especially when you're using it with two hands. It's possible to dish out crazy amounts of damage very quickly with this weapon, though it's important to note that it doesn't give you much poise and leaves you vulnerable to being hitstunned out of your combos by the heavier weapons (such as the Zweihander) that are used by large enemies and PvP players with Strength builds.
Elden Ring is finally here, and it's available for $60 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. It's one of the best Xbox games you can play right now if you're a fan of challenging RPGs, and we strongly recommend it.
