Upgrading your Flask of Crimson Tears and Flask of Cerulean Tears is incredibly important in Elden Ring, as these are the tools you're going to rely on heavily for healing and mana (spell points). One way to do this is to hunt down the many Sacred Tears located throughout Elden Ring's maps, as these improve how much health or mana each of your flasks replenish. The other way is to look for Golden Seeds, which are also spread out in the Lands Between and will increase the number of times you can use your flasks.
There are 42 different Golden Seeds located throughout Elden Ring, and while some of them are easy to spot, others are off the beaten path and take some exploring to find.
In this guide, we'll make that process easier for you by detailing everything you need to know about Golden Seeds, including how to find 22 of them and where they are located.
Elden Ring: How to find Golden Seeds
Finding Golden Seeds throughout the open world of Elden Ring isn't too difficult, provided that you know what to look for. From what players have discovered, there seem to be 42 Golden Seeds total. However, you only need to collect 30 Golden Seeds to max out your flask. We'll go over the 22 easiest Golden Seeds to find.
Something that's important to know is that Golden Seeds are always located underneath golden tree saplings. These small trees stand out in the environment since they radiate golden light, meaning that if you explore each area in the game thoroughly, you should be able to spot them without much trouble.
Notably, each major region in Elden Ring typically has one or two Golden Seeds available for players to find. There are some exceptions to this rule — some areas have more Golden Seeds, and some have none at all — but generally, you should be on the lookout for one or two golden tree saplings whenever you enter a new region.

Elden Ring: Golden Seed #1 location
The first Golden Seed is located along the road that leads to Stormveil Castle, just before the Stormhill area. You're going to run into several Stormveil soldiers and a giant troll along the way, so be ready for an uphill battle.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #2 location
The second Golden Seed can be found on the southeastern edge of East Limgrave, directly next to the entrance to Fort Haight. There will either be Stormveil soldiers or demi-human monsters here, depending on whether you've cleared this location before, so come prepared.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #3 location
The third Golden Seed is extremely difficult to miss, as it's located in the Stormveil Castle courtyard before Godrick the Grafted's boss fight. Grab it before the battle for an extra flask of healing or mana replenishment.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #4 location
You can find the fourth Golden Seed in the Weeping Peninsula region, on a small plateau north of Castle Morne. There's a giant in front of the castle's main gate that fires greatarrows at you from afar, so keep an eye on him and dodge the projectiles to avoid being killed.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #5 location
The fifth Golden Seed is located in Liurnia of the Lakes, to the right of the road leading up to the Raya Lucaria Academy. It's directly next to the Academy Gate Town Site of Grace, so keep an eye out for it.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #6 location
The sixth Golden Seed can be found in the graveyards of the Raya Lucaria Academy that lead up to the academy's main structure. There are numerous enemies in this area, so carefully dispose of them before you try to collect the Golden Seed.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #7 location
The seventh Golden Seed is located in northeastern Liurnia of the Lakes, through the ravine and just before the entrance to the mines that lead to the Altus Plateau. There are several large creatures in the nearby water that fill the air with poison, so quickly grab the Golden Seed then run away to avoid being poisoned.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #8 location
The eighth Golden Seed is found in the southwestern portion of the Altus Plateau, on a cliff overlooking much of the region. It's right next to a Site of Grace, so you don't need to worry about any enemies.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #9 and #10 location
To reach the next two Golden Seeds, you'll need to run up the large staircase that takes you eastward towards Leyndell, the Royal Capital. Pass or defeat all of the Leyndell soldiers and the two Tree Sentinels; you'll find a Site of Grace and a golden tree sapling with the ninth and 10th Golden Seeds under it through the large door at the top of the stairs.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #11 and #12 location
The 11th and 12th Golden Seeds can be found very close to the ninth and 10th ones. From the location of the previous two Golden Seeds, run up the staircase that leads north towards the closed-off main entrance of Leyndell. You'll need to run past a miniboss that lands to attack you, but when you do, you'll come across another golden sapling with two Golden Seeds beneath it.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #13 location
The 13th Golden Seed can be acquired in the southern part of the Caelid region, towards the start of the road that leads to Redmane Castle. There are several large crow-like enemies in this area that are very dangerous, so consider using your trusty steed, Torrent, to collect this Golden Seed so you can minimize the risk of being surrounded.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #14 location
Elden Ring's 14th Golden Seed can be found on the northwestern landmass in the underground Siofra River region. You can get to this area by way of an elevator in the Mistveil forest in Limgrave. Note that the Golden Seed generally has some rats and other monsters near it, so be ready for a fight.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #15 location
The 15th Golden Seed is located in the northwestern portion of the Mt. Gelmir region, directly after the boss fight in the large nearby crater. Watch out for the giant hand monsters as well as the multi-armed soldiers nearby who may try to attack you.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #16 location
The 16th Golden seed can be found directly next to the room that the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace is in the Leyndell, Royal Capital area. The golden sapling is surrounded by enemies, including a massive gargoyle, so we recommend running in, grabbing the Solden Seed, and then running away.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #17 location
The 17th Golden Seed can be found in the center of the Forbidden Lands area, just before the location of the lift that takes you up to the Mountaintops of the Giants. You may come across goblin-like creatures in this area that make frequent use of the powerful Beast Claw incantation spell, so keep an eye on your surroundings.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #18 location
You can find the 18th Golden Seed in the Nokstella, Eternal City area (also known as North Ainsel River). It's in the northwest part of the area near a large pool of water. There are lots of ant-riding enemies here, so tread carefully.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #19 location
The 19th Golden Seed is located in the Crumbling Farum Azura area, on the western landmass of the location, in front of a temple-like structure. It's completely surrounded by a significant number of enemies, so we recommend sprinting to the Golden Seed, taking it, and hoofing it back to a Site of Grace before you get surrounded and killed.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #20 location
The 20th Golden Seed can be found to the northeast of the Main Academy Gate Site of Grace just outside of the Raya Lucaria Academy, on the nearby broken bridge. There aren't any enemies here, so you can snag the seed without issue.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #21 location
The 21st Golden Seed is located within the Caria Manor found in northern Liurnia of the Lakes, found on the edge of a small cliff that overlooks the rest of the manor grounds. You'll need to make your way up and across the manor's various walkways to reach it. Note that it's located directly next to the path that leads to the Royal Knight Loretta boss fight.
Elden Ring: Golden Seed #22 location
The 22nd Golden Seed can be found on the northern overlook within Sellia, Town of Sorcery, which is located in eastern Caelid. In the northern part of the town, you'll find a large staircase that leads up to the overlook where the Golden Seed is.
Collect those Golden Seeds
FromSoftware doesn't necessarily want to make it easy for people to discover things in its games, so it's not too surprising that there are several Golden Seeds hidden throughout the map. As far as we can tell, it seems that is a total of 42 Golden Seeds in Elden Ring.
Collecting these Golden Seeds will help you increase the number of times you can use your flask, which will restore health, allowing you to continue fighting for a while longer. If you have enough Golden Seeds, it will be easier to go up against some really dangerous and hard-hitting foes.
It's more than likely that Golden Seeds are also in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, but figuring out where those are located will be handled within a different guide.
