Does Borderlands 3 have in-game purchases or microtransactions?
Does Borderlands 3 include any microtransactions?
Yes, though we don't have exact details yet, we know that players will be able to purchase different cosmetic items, such as new skins for the four Vault Hunters, vehicle skins, and more. However, Gearbox has been very adamant that these will be cosmetic items only. Nothing that players can purchase will throw off the balance of the game or will be anything close to "pay-to-win" mechanics.
What about those booster packs?
The Borderlands 3: Deluxe Edition and Super Deluxe Edition both include some XP and loot drop boosters, alongside some other bonuses not found in the regular version of the game. According to Gearbox, these boosts are capped at a certain point and will not be otherwise purchasable.
Is there anything else to purchase?
Borderlands 3 will also have paid DLC content, though this is in line with adding new missions and story activities, not microtransactions. The season pass is included in the Borderlands 3: Super Deluxe Edition. Though if you don't purchase the Borderlands 3: Super Deluxe Edition, don't worry; you can still grab the season pass separately at a later date. You can also purchase the DLC packs as they release.
Borderlands 3 is set to release on all platforms on Sept. 13, 2019.
