The Division 2 will get a 60 FPS update on Xbox Series X and Series S
Having originally had no plans for the new-gen consoles, it seems developer, Massive Entertainment, has given in a little to community demands.
What you need to know
- A patch released on Feb 2, 2021 will unlock 60 FPS in the game at up to 4K resolution.
- Currently The Division 2 runs at 30 FPS on all versions of the Xbox.
- 60 FPS will be supported on both the Xbox Series X and Series S.
Console players of The Division 2 have been asking about upgrades for the latest consoles, the Xbox Series X and Series S as well as the PS5, and now it finally seems like there is some good news. Originally there were no plans, but now, well, there are.

The Division 2 won't be getting a full "Xbox Series X optimized" upgrade (via WccfTech), but a patch to be delivered mid-way through Season 4, currently slated for Feb 2, 2021, will add support for 60 FPS play on the new consoles at up to 4K resolution on the Series X.
This is a pretty huge development for the quality of life of console players on the latest hardware. The difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS in this game is night and day, as anyone who's ever played on console and PC can attest. Everything about the game feels better thanks to the higher frame rate.
It's still a little while to wait, but given the challenges that game developers have faced in 2020, much like the rest of the world, the best news is of course this is happening at all. And while it won't have a full optimization, it's already been proved that the new hardware allows for significantly improved loading and fast travel times.
Before that, Title Update 12 and Season 4 are due to deploy imminently, with former Division agent, Faye Lau, becoming the new Prime Target. This has been an eagerly anticipated part of the story since the expansion, Warlords of New York, launched earlier this year.
Concealed Agenda
Happy hunting, agents.
The Division 2: Warlords of New York brings a pack new expansion, with story missions that will see players hunting down the rogue agent Aaron Keener.
