DioDict - Review
We've mentioned the Windows Phone application DioDict before. It is a dictionary application for Windows Phone 7 that is exclusive to the Samsung phones. The app taps into Collins Dictionary libary and includes multi-language support.
Recently updated to clean up some text formatting issues, DioDict offers more than definitions. It's a free application located in the Samsung App Zone and to read more about DioDict (plus see a video of it in action), just follow the break.
DioDict is laid out nicely taking advantage of the Windows Phone 7 metro style. The first page of the hub is your search field, then you slide over to a FlashCard page and finally you have a History page that lets you review your search history.
The Search Page is straight forward in that you simply type in the word you are trying to define. DioDict has predictive text and as you type, similarly spelled words appear on the screen. If you see the word you are searching for, just tap it and DioDict will pull up the definition.
DioDict also has a flash card feature that will allow you save words to a flash card set. You can manually enter the words from the Flash Card Page or simply tap the "+" sign on the words definition to add it to a set. This is a nice feature if you need to memorize definitions.
The History Page simply shows you all the words you've searched. This is a good page to visit if you have to frequently look up the same definition.
DioDict hides it's multi-language support but it's there. Just tap the arrow symbol that's next to the search field. This will pull up all the language dictionaries that are available.

Overall Impression
DioDict ran smoothly with no bugs, glitches, or crashes experienced. It pulled up definitions quickly and the multi-language support was a bonus. My only nit is that with the predictive text, you have to drop the keyboard to view the entire list. It's a minor complaint and one that doesn't take long to forget.
The flash card feature is a great learning tool. I've been able to create a flash card set with my daughter's vocabulary words and DioDict gives her a change of pace with her studies.
DioDict is a free application for Samsung Windows Phones and is available in the Samsung App Zone which can be found in the Marketplace application. If you own a Samsung Windows Phone 7 device, DioDict is a must have.
