Diablo 2: Resurrected list of known bugs and launch issues
Given the nature of big game launches these days, especially for online titles, problems around when the game is first available are unfortunately something to just be expected.
September 26, 1:28 p.m. EST Blizzard is beginning another round of maintenance that will last between two to three hours. During this time, players may be disconnected, as server capacity will be limited.
[#D2R] We'll be performing a live maintenance on Sunday, September 26th from 10:30 AM (PDT) to 1:30 PM (PDT). During this time, players may experience interruptions of service including disconnects, but should be able to log back in.[#D2R] We'll be performing a live maintenance on Sunday, September 26th from 10:30 AM (PDT) to 1:30 PM (PDT). September 23, 4:04 p.m. EST: Another round of emergency maintenance has taken servers offline. It's expected that servers will be down for about 45 minutes.

September 23, 1:45 p.m. EST: It looks like servers are slowly coming back online, with lobbies being populated by multiple players.
September 23, 1 p.m. EST: Diablo 2: Resurrected is currently undergoing unscheduled maintenance to hopefully fix the online issues the game is experiencing. Except maintenance to last for at least 30 minutes.
To address game creation and character issues, #D2R will undergo unscheduled maintenance at 10am PT. We expect this maintenance to last 30 minutes. Players who are online and playing should logout before the shutdown if possible. To address game creation and character issues, #D2R will undergo unscheduled maintenance at 10am PT. Quick fix: As Diablo 2: Resurrected just went live across all regions, there might be a slight delay in the servers coming online. Close the application, wait a minute, then retry.
Black screen
Summary: Very rarely, players will begin the game and be greeted by a black screen.
Quick fix: This seems to only happen when trying to play online. Reboot the game or play in offline mode to fix it.
Can't create a character
Summary: Players aren't able to create a character.
Quick fix: Blizzard is acknowledging that servers are being slammed right now, with more details to come. For now, try waiting a few minutes then closing and re-opening the game.
"This character is already in a game"
Summary: Players who have created a character are told their character is already in a game on the server.
Quick fix: As above, the servers are being slammed at the moment. We'll share more when a fix is available.
Missing or deleted character
Summary: After creating a character, players are not able to find that character when logging back into the game. Some players get an error message saying the character data can't be found.
Quick fix: We're fairly certain the character wasn't actually deleted but that this is due to server stress. Try disconnecting then reloading the game.
Missing offline character
Summary Same as above, but there's a bug particular to offline characters.
Quick fix Blizzard says not to use the same name for your offline and online characters, as it's related to this issue.
Server crashing or disconnecting from the game
Summary: Some players are being kicked out of the game even after they get in.
Quick fix: Again, this is related to ongoing server stress. Selecting the option for playing offline may keep you from being kicked out.
Scroll of Identify lag
Summary: When a player uses a scroll of identify, it isn't consumed and the item isn't identified.
Quick fix: Just wait. A few minutes later, the scroll will be used up and the item identified. This lag seems to occur when playing in online mode.
Can't launch client
Summary: Some players with older model CPUs are unable to launch the client for Diablo 2: Resurrected.
Quick fix: Blizzard says this is due to an older AVX instruction set accidentally being included in the final build. If you're affected, you'll have to wait for a patch.
Shared stash disappearing
Summary: Players are reporting that items stored in their stash such as Runes are going missing, even for offline characters.
Hang in there
We'll be updating this list of problems and fixes quite frequently, so if you don't see the problem you're having just yet, don't despair.
Meanwhile, if you're not facing any issues playing the game but instead don't really know where to begin, consider consulting the beginner's guide to classes in Diablo 2: Resurrected, which will give you the information you need to make an informed choice.

The next mainline game in the franchise is Diablo 4, which does not currently have a release window.
