Bungie has officially launched Season 14, which is Season of the Splicer, for Destiny 2 on all platforms. The season runs from May 11, 2021 to August 24, 2021, and it focuses on the Fallen House of Light and its leader Mithrax as they assist the Guardians to take down an emerging Vex threat. Over the course of the season, players will be able to play a new 6-player activity called Override as well as a weekly pinnacle loot mission called Expunge. The full roadmap for the season is below.
Some of the other additions in the season include the Vault of Glass raid (which is, notably, free to all players), over 30 new and reprised weapons, the Cryosthesia-77k Exotic Stasis sidearm, a new Exotic armor piece for each class, new armor sets and ornaments, and new Stasis Aspect quests (if you haven't fleshed out your Stasis subclasses yet, check my guide on how to get Stasis Aspects and Fragments in Destiny 2: Beyond Light). Transmog has also been added (referred to in-game as "Armor Synthesis"), which allows players to turn any armor piece from their Collections into a universal armor ornament by earning a new currency called Synthweave (check out my post on transmog and the new shader system in Season 14 for more details).
Are you excited for Season of the Splicer? Will you be playing Destiny 2 during this season? Let me know, and make sure to check the official Season of the Splicer page for more details. You'll need $10 worth of Silver (Destiny 2's in-game microtransaction currency) to buy Season of the Splicer's season pass. This pass will give you access to the seasonal activities and much of the new loot, so if you play Destiny a lot, you should definitely pick it up. The latest expansion, Destiny 2: Beyond Light, is also available for $40. If you haven't tried out Destiny 2 yet, I highly recommend doing so as it's one of the best Xbox One shooters out there. Make sure you check out my beginner's guide on how to get into Destiny 2 in 2021 for helpful tips, tricks, and more if you do.
Welcome to Europa, Guardian...
In Beyond Light, players will encounter a dark Fallen faction, travel to new locations, and go beyond the Light to wield the power of the Darkness.
