Cquence, a fast-paced Windows Phone puzzle game, is today's AdDuplex HERO App

Cquence is a fast-paced puzzle game for Windows Phone that will challenge your skills at building number sequences. The games are aggressively timed, and while things start out easy, it won't take long before you begin to panic trying to sort out the correct path for your numbers. Cquence is a fun game to pass the time with and one of our AdDuplex HERO Apps.

The HERO App program is a promotional campaign for Windows Phone and Windows developers on the AdDuplex Network. The program has changed slightly from last year and partners AdDuplex with AppDeals, TechRewards{.nofollow} and Windows Central to deliver a host of benefits to the top apps and games each month. Our role in the HERO App campaign is to offer a little exposure to these titles by sharing them with you, our readers.

The layout of Cquence is minimalistic with the primary menu having only two options: one to start the game and the other to mute sound.

When you first jump into gameplay, Cquence will walk you through a brief tutorial. The tutorial will reappear as you revisit gameplay, but an option to skip will appear at the bottom of the screen.

Gameplay with Cquence will present you with a collection of tiles. While many of the tiles are blank, each game will have at least a tile numbered one and a second tile with a higher number. You may have additional numbered tiles with numbers on them that will need to be incorporated into your sequence's path. You will also have shaded tiles that cannot be used in building your sequence.

The goal with Cquence is to tap blank tiles to build a numbered sequence starting at one and ending at the highest numbered tile. For example, if the gaming board has a number one tile and a six tile you would have to create a 2,3,4,5 sequence to connect those tiles.

You create the sequence by tapping on a blank tile to label it with the next highest number in the string. Your sequence movement can only be up, down, left or right. Should you mess up the sequence, the only option is to reset the gaming board and restart the gaming level, but your game timer will continue to run. I would have liked to have seen the ability to tap on the tile a second time to remove the number. Having to reset the gaming board and start from scratch does add to the game's challenge, but can be a little frustrating at the same time.

Cquence

While the gaming concept sounds simple, you have an aggressive game timer that adds an element of urgency to gameplay. While successfully completing a puzzle advances you to the next level, the game clock will not reset. Instead, a completed puzzle will only add a few seconds back on the clock.

The further you progress in the game, the more challenging the puzzles become. This makes the time on the clock all the more valuable and, again, increases Cquence's overall challenge. Each completed level earns you points and you play for as long as you have time on the clock.

Graphics are minimal, gameplay challenging and while I'm not sure Cquence can hold up to marathon gaming sessions it is a fun game to pass shorter bits of time with. It can get rather nerve-racking when you have to build a number sequence from 1 to 15 and incorporate existing numbered tiles into the path.

Cquence is a free, ad-support game that is available for Windows Phone. It's a game well worth trying.
