Cat's Catch for Windows 8, keeping that bad old puddy cat at bay
Wooden Plank Studios is offering a casual game of cat and mouse (more so cat and bird) over at the Windows Store.
Cat's Catch calls upon you to help a little blue bird who is trying to avoid the death grip of the neighborhood ally cat. The longer you survive the better the score and you can collect feathers to unlock bonus items as well as a few bonus points.
Cat's Catch isn't a bad option if your in the market for a casual game for your Windows 8 computer or tablet.
The main menu for Cat's Catch has options to jump into the game, view the high scores, and view the unlockables. Unlockables are currently extra bird characters that become available as you collect feathers.
Currently the only game mode is a survival mode but the developer hints at additional modes are coming soon. The survival mode has you avoiding the cat attacks, collecting feathers for as long as you can.
Game controls are straight forward in that you tap/hold the blue bird to move the bird across the screen. Don't have a touch screen? Just move your mouse pointer over the blue bird, left click and you can move the bird around the screen. A small yard sign sits in the lower left of the screen indicating the time you've survived and another sign sits opposite where you can pause the game.
The cat will move along the perimeter of the screen and when you least expect it, the cat will pounce. The cat will get frustrated and make back to back attacks and go to extreme measures by throwing bombs at your bird, go into a tornado frenzy and grab various farming instruments to hack up your bird. You really have to stay on your toes to keep the bird safe and avoid the cat from gobbling it up.

Animations have appeal, game play challenging and Cat's Catch is mildly addictive. It's an attractive game to play when you need a break from work or just looking for help to pass a little time. I can also see Cat's Catch being appealing to adults as well as our younger audience. If it was available for Windows Phone, it would be a fun title to add to the Kid's Corner.
There is a trial version available for Cat's Catch with the full version running $1.99. You can pick up Cat's Catch here in the Windows Store.
