Can Xbox One X play UHD 4K digital video?
Modern Xbox consoles are all about 4K media
The Xbox One X is currently the world's most powerful games console, pushing up to 4K UHD visuals in games. Naturally, Microsoft also ensured that the Xbox One X can pump out UHD streams for all sorts of media, providing the apps fullyi support the resolution.
Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and the UHD Blu-ray player all support 4K video playback, providing the source media does, allowing you to enjoy more crisp visuals on your shows and movies.
Microsoft also sells 4K movies through its own Microsoft Store, although the selection isn't particularly large. The bulk of 4K UHD media, for now, remains on physical discs. Amazon's store has a section dedicated to 4K Blu-ray discs, you can check those out over here.
If you're not interested in 4K games, you could also consider picking up the cheaper Xbox One S. The Xbox One S can also stream 4K UHD format for Netflix, Blu-ray, and so on, but isn't powerful enough to do so for games. The trade off is that it's often over $200 cheaper, depending on where you shop. So choose wisely!

The S maxes out at HD resolution, but it can still handle all those high-res Blu-rays and media streams, and at a far more affordable price.
