Call of Duty: Vanguard, is now available, with a new campaign, multiplayer suite, and Zombies experience for players to dive into. While there's various editions of Call of Duty Vanguard to choose from, you might run into issues regardless of platform and edition. We're here to help, as we're tracking any known bugs and launch issues in Call of Duty: Vanguard that we come across.
Call of Duty: Vanguard bugs and launch issues
Given the nature of video game launches these days, especially for multiplayer titles, bugs and server problems are an unfortunately common occurence. We're compiling an problems we see across any aspects of the game and logging them below as the inital launch week kicks off. If you don't see the issue you're running into listed below, don't worry, as we'll be updating this article on a frequent basis.
Can't connect to a game
Summary: If you can't access the online functionality of the game.
Quick fix: As Call of Duty: Vanguard just recently went live across all regions, there will probably be server issues, as is common for games like this. You can check the official server status to see if the developers are reporting the problem.
The game crashes
Summary: The game freezes and crashes, normally booting you out to the home screen.
Quick fix: Crashes can be caused be innumerable things, though Activision notes most crashes will happen when playing public multiplayer. If it's happening repeatedly on a frequent basis, make sure your system software is updated with the latest updates available.
On Xbox consoles, you'll find this under Settings. On PS4 and PS5, it'll be under the System Software Update and Settings and System Software Update sections, respectively. PC players will want to make sure they've downloaded the latest graphics drives.

Application unexpectedly stopped working
Summary: The game suddenly crashes on PC, with an error code saying that "The application unexpectedly stopped working" with code number 0x887A0005.
Black screen in campaign
Summary: You get a black screen after completing a campaign mission.
Quick fix: Exit to the home screen of your console or PC, then reboot the game. Your progress should be saved through a checkpoint.
Weapon camos don't progress
Summary: Progress towards a weapon camo for a particular commendation isn't being tracked properly.
Bullets go through combat shield
Summary: The combat shield weapon, when on a player's back, isn't properly blocking bullets like it's supposed to.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is currently available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, PS5 and PS4.
