Call of Duty: WWII's Winter Siege event wants you to stay frosty while shooting Nazis

Starting December 8 and running through January 2, you can prepare for a frosty fight with the game's first ever community event, called Winter Siege. Winter Siege features new winter-themed content, a free Winter Carentan multiplayer map, double experience playlists, and a festive new Headquarters. The most significant addition has to be the new weapons which anyone can unlock.

If you watch the event's trailer, you can see that it adds five new firearms. The focus here appears to be on automatic rifles which dispense a lot of firepower rather quickly. This comes in handy when you're stranded and outnumbered in multiplayer matches.

Call of Duty returns to its roots with Call of Duty: WWII. You step into the shoes of a young soldier who lands in Normandy on D-Day and must battle across Europe through iconic locations in history's most monumental war. According to Activision, you experience classic Call of Duty combat, the bonds of friendship, and the unforgiving nature of war in this game.

The best part is that Call of Duty: WWII supports Xbox One X and consistently features higher resolutions than PlayStation 4 Pro. It's great to see developers taking full advantage of the 1.8 teraflops difference between the two consoles to put out better visuals on Microsoft's machine.
