Below finally launches on Xbox One and PC next week
Below is almost here!
Below was initially teased close to the original Xbox One reveal, and since then has been delayed numerous times. Recently, the developer said that it expected to launch the title in 2018. However, we haven't had a chance to see the most recent build of the game in action. Until now, it was unclear if the game would even launch in December.
Recently, there was evidence that the team was making significant progress on the title. A few weeks ago, Below was rated "M" by the Australian Classifications agency. The game contains violence so that's why it was given that rating. Usually when games are rated, they're announced or released shortly after. Today, we received confirmation that Below should launch on December 14. The game will only be available on Xbox One and PC at launch. It's unclear if the title is still a proper Xbox One console exclusive or has some timed deal.
Below for Xbox One is a beautifully brutal pinnacle of ID@Xbox
The thirty minutes of Xbox One X footage showcased above is gorgeous to say the least, and reveals new details about the title. We get a good look at the inventory and loot systems. There are also a lot of other complex mechanics in place like crafting and cooking which help you become stronger.
Below is a top-down roguelike which focuses on exploration and melee combat. You're tasked with exploring a network of underground areas as you acquire better gear. However, death is permanent and once you're killed, you have to start the game from the beginning. The more you play, the more you learn, and can hopefully complete the game on your next attempt.
