Marvel's Avengers is an upcoming action game from Square Enix, but the reveal didn't go as smoothly as the company anticipated. When Avengers was announced a few months ago, people criticized it for the "distorted" character faces and linearity of the missions. Instead of a sprawling adventure, the game came across as a brawler.
In an effort to turn this around, Square Enix revealed a new character coming to the game. Kamala Khan is an enthusiastic teenager who defends her hometown Jersey City as the costumed Ms. Marvel. The company added that she is a self-avowed Avengers fan in the game's original story. Kamala must apply her intellect, optimism, and unique abilities to the task of unraveling a global conspiracy and reassembling her personal heroes in time to stop a new secretive organization.
The Avengers game takes place after a horrific event leaves San Francisco in ruins. The team has been disbanded for five years, but when an even bigger evil threatens the planet, it's up to you to assemble the crew and save the world once.
Players first encounter a young Kamala during A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling an Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco. Kamala is exposed to the mysterious Terrigen Mist, and finds herself developing extraordinary polymorphic powers, which she subsequently hides for years.
