Gaming headsets have come a long way and now offer some high-quality experiences. Audeze is looking to further tap into this market by announcing the new Penrose wireless headset aimed at console and PC gamers. Audeze is a company you may be aware of, responsible for some killer audio gear for audiophiles.
The Penrose is designed with not only PC gaming in mind but also the upcoming consoles from Microsoft and Sony. Equipped with 100m planar magnetic drivers, on paper the new headset is designed to produce some exceptional audio. Most gaming headsets of today come with 40mm or 50mm drivers, so you know straight away that Audeze is targeting the high-end.
And because the headset will be wireless, the company opted to rely on a 2.4GHz low-latency lossless connection, regardless of the platform. The Penrose will be available in two versions come September 2020. Penrose for PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, as well as PC, or Penrose X for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Pricing comes in at $299, though the first 1,000 preorders at Audeze's official website will be priced in at just $249.
