What you need to know

  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the latest entry in the long-running Assassin's Creed game franchise.
  • It takes the series to the Viking era and has received numerous praises for its world, gameplay, and graphics.
  • The game hasn't been without issues, so a new patch is being released tomorrow to fix a ton of problems.
  • The update aims to improve performance, but also adds new game modes for the Xbox Series X, Series S, and PS5.

One of the latest games to occupy everyone's time is Assassin's Creed Valhalla, an impressive showcase for next-gen consoles that combines a bewilderingly large world with gorgeous graphics and satisfying gameplay. That being said, the game has had far from the smoothest launch, with plenty of lingering problems on several platforms, especially next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5. To respond to these issues, Ubisoft is releasing a new patch throughout tomorrow with a sizeable number of fixes, improvements, and additions to Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

The most noticeable changes being made include new toggles for all next-gen consoles for "Performance" and "Quality" modes. Performance mode has been the default on Xbox Series X and PS5, prioritizing a stable 60fps framerate over the best possible visuals. Quality mode has been the default on Xbox Series S, prioritizing graphics while dropping the framerate down to 30fps. Now, all consoles have the option of both modes, meaning Xbox Series S owners can drop the visual quality down and achieve 60fps inside of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

There are also some improvements for performance, especially on the Xbox Series X, which has had reports of screen tearing in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, among tons of general improvements, small tweaks, and a lot of balancing changes for gear and more. You can read the full changelog at Ubisoft's website.

If you haven't tried Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, it's an incredible game that can become bogged down in the endgame with the absurd amount of content that's contained within.
