Anthem release date seemingly leaked by Amazon [updated]
The release date for Anthem's upcoming shared-world role-playing game, Anthem, has seemingly leaked ahead of EA Play 2018.
Updated June 9, 2018: Electronic Arts has formally unveiled Anthem's release date of February 22, 2019. Amazon was close, but you'll be waiting just a couple days extra.
Back at E3 2017, Electronic Arts revealed its next major franchise, "Anthem." Pitched as a Destiny-style shared world action role-playing game, the game shows potential and is shaping up to be one of the publisher's most promising new franchises in some time.
Since its initial reveal, details on Anthem have been limited. While first revealed with a 2018 release date, the publisher has since pushed the title to early next year. With new announcements related to the game expected at EA Play 2018, it now appears Amazon has leaked the game's release date ahead of time.
Anthem's Amazon Italy listing now lists the game for a February 19, 2019 release date – a date that safely falls within EA's previously discussed window. While this information should be taken with caution, it appears a likely possibility given the publisher's previous statements in its latest earnings call.
EA Play is currently underway as of publication, where new details on Anthem and other EA titles are expected. During this, we may see a release date for the title, alongside new gameplay details.
