AMD just announced its next iteration of RX 6000-series graphics cards. The Radeon RX 6950 XT ($1,099), 6750 XT ($549), and 6650 XT ($399) should all go on sale today. Each of the GPUs feature faster clock speeds and GDDR6 memory compared to their predecessors. They have enhanced software and firmware compared to the previous generation of graphics cards from AMD as well.
Thanks to their higher clock speeds and specs, the new RX 6000 GPUs should be among the best graphics cards available.
Model | Compute Units | GDDR6 | Game Clock (MHz) | Boost Clock7 (MHZ) | Memory Interface | Effective Memory Bandwidth w/ AMD Infinity Cache | TBP | Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Radeon RX 6950 XT | 80 | 16GB | 2100 | Up to 2310 | 256-bit | Up to 1793GB/s | 335W | $1099 |
Radeon RX 6750 XT | 40 | 12GB | 2495 | Up to 2600 | 192-bit | Up to 1326GB/s | 250W | $549 |
Radeon RX 6650 XT | 32 | 8GB | 2410 | Up to 2635 | 128-bit | Up to 469GB/s | 180W | $399 |
While they are better than their predecessors in many ways, it's worth noting that the RX 6x50-series GPUs aren't a major generational leap. As noted by the Verge, some of the best PC games may only see an improvement of one frame per second. The graphics cards should provide an increase between 5-6% compared to the previous generation.
AMD's new graphics cards also have a higher power draw that's between 20-35W more than the last set of GPUs from the company. Even with increased power requirements, the cards get better performance per watt than NVIDIA's offering, according to AMD.
ASRock, ASUS, BIOSTAR, Gigabyte, MSI, Sapphire, PowerColor, XFX, and Yeston are expected to have RX 6950 XT, Radeon RX 6750 XT, and Radeon RX 6650 XT graphics cards starting today. AMD will also have Radeon RX 6950 XT and Radon RX 6750 XT GPUs available through its website.
Our friends over at Tom's Hardware already have a review of the AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT if you'd like to see how the GPU performs in the real world.
AMD just launched its latest and greatest graphics cards, the Radeon RX 6950 XT, 670XT, and 6650 XT. They have higher clock speeds and quicker memory than their predecessors and should easily handle the best PC games.
