The WD My Book 4TB desktop external hard drive is down to $82.99 on Amazon. This is a really low price on the 4TB version of this drive. In fact, it hasn't dropped directly this low since October of last year. Plus, most recently the drive has been selling for around $110. This is a great deal both just as a pure price drop and when compared to its street price, so grab it while you can before the price jumps back up. It's actually less expensive than the 3TB version of the My Book, which is still going for its regular street price.

This deal is part of a larger sale on Amazon featuring low prices on both SanDisk and Western Digital gear. This is a temporary sale and the prices end when the day does.

So this is a large enough drive that you're not going to want to take it with you anywhere. Just set it up on your desktop and connect it to your computer and use it as external storage you can access at any time. It has some good extra features for making the most out of all that space. For example, you can set it up to work with WD's backup software. It will automatically backup your computer, so you can use it to protect up to 4TB of your computer's data. It's also compatible with Time Machine for Mac, so you can back up that way as well.

The hard drive can protect all the data stored on it, too, with password protection and hardware encryption. It uses a USB 3.0 port for data transfers with fast speeds up to 5 Gbps, but it's also USB 2.0 compatible if you need to go backwards a generation.

WD has a reputation to keep when it comes to hard drives, so this one has been tested to withstand shocks and drops, and it's built to last for a long time. The whole thing is covered by a three-year warranty from WD as well.
