What you need to know

  • Acer's Orion desktop gaming PCs will sport NVIDIA's latest graphics cards.
  • The new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series nearly doubles in power over the prior generation.
  • The Orion 9000, 5000, and 3000 desktops will all be available with RTX 30 Series GPUs.
  • Acer doesn't have pricing or availability information available just yet.

After a long, leak-filled build-up, NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards are finally here, which means a wave of announcements are incoming from PC makers. Among the first in line is Acer, which has revealed its Orion desktop PC lineup will support configurations with GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs. There's no availability date or pricing just yet, but they're coming.

"On the new Predator Orion gaming desktops, our GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs deliver the ultimate performance for gamers," said Matt Wuebbling, vice president of global GeForce 2 marketing at NVIDIA, in an Acer press release. "The latest GPUs powered by the NVIDIA Ampere architecture deliver the most realistic ray-traced graphics and cutting-edge AI features, and provide gamers with incredible gaming experiences."

In all, Acer says the Predator Orion 9000, 5000, and 3000 series will all be available with GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs. On the low end, that includes the RTX 3070 on the Orion 3000. The Orion 5000 and 9000, meanwhile, will be available with the GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090.

All three should benefit greatly from NVIDIA's new cards. NVIDIA is promising up to 1.9-times performance-per-watt when compared with the previous RTX 20 Series generation. That should allow for even tolerable 8K setups, though you won't have amazing framerates if you're pushing that many pixels.

Alongside support for the new GeForce RTX 30 Series, Acer also revealed some more details about its new Predator X25 monitor. The 360Hz G-Sync gaming display packs a 24.5-inch screen with an insane 360 Hz refresh rate. But it also packs some other goodies worth mentioning.

On the color front, Acer says the Predator X25 covers 99 percent of the sRGB color space. For gamers, there's one other neat feature: NVIDIA Reflec Latency Analyzer. This tool, which is integrated in the Predator X25, allows your system to analyze the time between when your click your mouse and when pixels (like a gun muzzle flash) change on your screen.

NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer is clearly a tool aimed at gamers looking to eke out every bit of performance they can, allowing analysis of the minute latency produced by different mice.

There's still no price or availability information on the Predator X25, but it'll be one to watch out for later this year.
