This sleek 5-in-1 Qi2 desktop charger would be perfect... But I don't own an iPhone

The Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger is compact and reliable, but its Qi2 wireless charger would prefer you owned an iPhone.

Windows Central Verdict

The Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger is a reliable, attractive desktop companion for keeping all of your devices charged. It has enough juice to charge even your laptop, although you'll quickly find its limits if you connect multiple devices. That Qi2 wireless charging pad is also great to have, but its usefulness is crippled if you own an Android smartphone. I can't fault the quality of this charging accessory, though.

Pros

  • +

Sleek, quality design with helpful display

  • +

Versatile charging options with Qi2, retractable cable, and additional ports

  • +

Up to 140W out of a single port, enough to charge most laptops

Cons

  • -

Wireless charging is locked to 5W for Android devices

  • -

Easy to find the limits of 140W with multiple devices

Baseus is a respected name in the world of charging technology and accessories, and its new Nomos line aims to simplify all your charging needs with all-in-one devices.

The Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger pairs its 140W capacity with a Qi2 wireless charging pad, retractable USB Type-C cable, and some additional ports to power all your devices. It's sleek, attractive, and built to last, with a helpful screen to keep track of just how much juice your devices are receiving. For those seeking one charger to rule them all, it's genuinely difficult to find fault in the Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger.

It's not impossible, though. 140W is great, but competing solutions go up to 200 or even 240W to give you more breathing room when charging multiple devices. Qi2 is great, but this charger is only rated for iPhones, so your Android smartphone will be reduced to a trickle of battery-filling power.

I'm constantly surrounded by devices and accessories of all shapes and sizes, and it can be a daunting task to keep them all charged. I've tested numerous charging accessories to find the ones I can trust with my devices, but I'm always looking forward to the next great charger or charging dock to land on my desk.

Nomos 5-in-1 Charger: Pricing and specifications

I do wish Baseus included one more USB Type-C charging cable in the box. (Image credit: Windows Central | Zachary Boddy)
  • The Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger retails for $149.99.
  • Two of five charging options are useable with no extra cables needed.

Baseus isn't in the habit of overcharging for its charging accessories, and as such the retail price of $149.99 at Amazon does feel appropriate for the Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger. For that price, you're getting a single accessory capable of wirelessly charging your phone, as well as charging your laptop, tablet, earbuds, and any other accessories or devices you may have lying around. A retractable cable means you don't have to worry about immediately supplying your own (nor will you always have a cable lying around haphazardly).

The Baseus Nomos series actually starts from $24.99 at Baseus and includes a retractable charging cable, a Qi2 wireless charging power bank, an 8-in-1 desktop charger with built-in outlets, and the 5-in-1 charger that I'm reviewing, which feels the most well-rounded out of the bunch.

In the box, you'll find the Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop charger and the detachable 1.5m (5ft) AC power cable. This product is covered by Baseus' 24-month limited warranty.

One charger to power them all. This charging dock isn't the most outlandish or technically impressive you can buy, but it's a well-rounded all-in-one charging solution with a built-in Qi2 wireless charger, a retractable charging cable, and extra ports to expand as you need it.

Nomos 5-in-1 Charger: The good

You have plenty of room to plug in all your devices, despite how compact this charging dock is. (Image credit: Windows Central | Zachary Boddy)
  • This charging dock is compact and feels very well-built.
  • It's smartly designed, too, with a retractable cable and adjustable Qi2 stand.
  • 140W charging from one port is more than enough for most laptops, too.

The Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger is compact. It's smaller in every horizontal dimension than my Samsung Galaxy Fold5 when it's unfolded, and it's only slightly thicker than the novel I'm currently reading. There's quality in that ultraportable design, both in the build and how it's designed. The chassis is solid, the ports are snug, the adjustable Qi2 charging stand and retractable cable feel reliable and reassuring.

There's enough spacing between the ports to plug in all your devices, despite the minuscule dimensions, and the retractable cable can lock and unlock at any length with short tugs. There's even a magnet to firmly hold the retractable cable's Type-C plug to the side of the Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger. The AC power cable is detachable, too, which is a nice touch for long-term durability.

To the right of the magnetic wireless charging pad is a simple LED display. There's a small button on the side that can toggle the display between off, simple, and detailed states. The former most state is self-explanatory, while the latter two let you choose how much charging information is displayed at once. Only using one port? Simple will give you that info loud and clear. Utilizing multiple ports and want to ensure everything is charging correctly? Detailed will give you a meticulous breakdown of all five parts, although that view is understandably cramped.

There is some concern the retractable cable mechanism may break at some point, but I had zero issues with it during my weeks of testing (and it is mighty convenient). (Image credit: Windows Central | Zachary Boddy)

The charging experience is also great. The 15W wireless charging stand isn't anything too impressive, but it does support Qi2 and — by extension — MagSafe, so you can magnetically attach any compatible device (and many of the most popular smartphones have Qi2 cases if it's not built into the phone itself). The retractable cable can charge up to 100W, making it more than powerful enough for most smartphones and laptops, and having that built-in cable means I usually don't need to plug additional cables in and have them lying around.

When I do need more charging power, it's easy enough to take advantage of the dual USB Type-C ports and USB Type-A port. One of those Type-C ports supports up to 140W of Power Delivery by itself, while the other can handle up to 100W on its own. How power is distributed through the charging dock depends on how many devices are charging and which areas are being used, but it feels pretty intuitive (and there's a helpful LED display to explain where your juice is going).

All-in-all, this is simply a good desktop charger. The rubber feet do a solid job keeping the Nomos 5-in-1 in place, the two moving parts don't feel dangerously fragile in the slightest, and all my charging needs have been met. I also trust Baseus when it comes to safety, and this charging dock is also equipped with a master chip that's constantly looking over-voltage and over-current, high temperatures, grounding issues, static build-up, short-circuiting, and anything else that may threaten the dock, you, or your devices. Any sign of danger, and the Nomos 5-in-1 can shut off the power to itself, by itself.

Nomos 5-in-1 Charger: The bad

This would be perfect with wider fast wireless charging compatibility, but Qi has been kind of a mess in general lately. (Image credit: Windows Central | Zachary Boddy)
  • 140W feels like a lot, but five devices can break that up quickly.
  • The Qi2 charger isn't as useful with Android, even if you have the magnets.

When many ultrabooks charge at 65W and even power-hungry laptops like the Apple Macbook Pro 16 cap out at 140W, the Nomos 5-in-1 can seem like plenty for most people's charging needs. However, that's 140W combined. If you're charging your 140W laptop through one port, using any other parts of this charging dock will take away from that juice. When you can charge up to five devices, those pieces can get pretty small.

Considering I reviewed the Baseus 240W Digital GaN Desktop Charger, 140W obviously isn't the limit. Many companies are now making 200-240W charging docks, and some even boast similar capabilities as the Baseus Nomos 5-in-1. The price and size of this charging dock makes it easy to forgive, though, and plenty of people won't have to worry about that limit.

What millions would have to worry about, though, is the wireless charger being near useless. 15W is pretty standard for an entry-level wireless charger and is perfect for setting up as you go to bed or when you know you won't need your phone for a while, but only those with the iPhone 13-16 with MagSafe get to enjoy it. Everyone else? We get a measly 5W, regardless of our phone's make or model. No, that Qi2-compatible case doesn't help. Everything but the iPhones mentioned above are locked to 5W. That sucks, and it immediately guarantees the charging dock won't become my only desktop charging solution.

Nomos 5-in-1 Charger: Final thoughts

Those looking to condense their chargers into one (and know how much power they need) will be well served by this charging station. (Image credit: Windows Central | Zachary Boddy)

You should buy this if ...

You want a compact, quality all-in-one charging solution for your home or office

Have anything short of a gaming laptop? A tablet? Smartphone? Earbuds or headphones? Wireless mouse? Doesn't matter, plug it all in, the Nomos 5-in-1 will figure it out and succinctly tell you exactly how it's doing that. It's a great all-in-one charging solution, as long as you know you'll usually stay within that 140W limit.

You have an iPhone

I'm grateful to Apple for MagSafe, because it finally forced Qi to innovate with magnetic wireless charging, but the vast majority of Qi2 accessories are still made only with iPhone in mind. Better wireless charging needs to come to everyone.

You should not buy this if ...

You don't own an iPhone

If the thought of an all-in-one charging station that also doubles as the wireless charger (and dock) for your Android smartphone sounds appealing, I'm sorry to tell you that 5W is torturously slow, and it will drive you insane. This isn't quite the answer us Android owners are looking for.

This likely won't surprise you to hear, but I usually have a lot of tech lying around. As I type this, I have four laptops, two gaming handhelds, and four smartphones within my immediate vicinity. That's a lot of batteries to keep ticking, so it's useful to have a single charging station that can handle all my needs. The Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger almost became that, but none of those aforementioned smartphones are an iPhone.

Still, those who are interested in that all-in-one solution, want it to be as compact as it is diverse, and love the idea of an adjustable Qi2 wireless charging stand and a hidden, always-ready retractable cable will adore this charging dock. It looks good, it's built well, and it's a reliable, intelligent charger. The price is right, too; Baseus simply did a good job here. Well, as long as you own an iPhone. Sigh.

If you're one of millions who do, then you can buy the Baseus Nomos 5-in-1 Desktop Charger for $149.99 at Amazon. There are also some bundle options if you need some additional charging accessories.
