Gears of War 4 takes place several years after the events of Gears 3, kicking off an all-new saga. A new threat named the Swarm has emerged and threatens to finish off the remnants of humanity for good.
Gears of War 4 launches on October 11th, 2016 as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning that a single purchase of the game will net you a copy on both Xbox One and Windows 10.
Spoilers below, obviously!
Additionally, those who play Gears of War 4 between now and December will also net all of the previous Xbox 360 games on backward compatibility for Xbox One.
Gears of War 4 is shaping up to be an explosive addition to the franchise, which remains one of Xbox's biggest and most prevalent. Between Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4 and the recently released Xbox One S, Microsoft's Christmas offering for gamers is looking extremely strong.
