Amazon expands its PickUp service to include over 10,000 Post Offices in the UK

Amazon has announced that its PickUp service has expanded to include more than 10,000 Post Offices across the UK, boosting the number of supported locations to over 16,000. Rather than relying on couriers, customers can opt for Royal Mail's Local Collect to have their packages delivered to a nearby location where they can conveniently pick up the order without hassle.

All that's required is some form of ID to collect the package once it's available. Delivery to the newly supported Post Offices branches is free for all Amazon Prime members. But fear not if you're not a Prime member as you'll be able to use the service priced on First Class delivery rates.

This latest expansion is on the heels of the Amazon and Smiths News partnership. Check the press release below for more details.

Slough – 25th November, 2014 – Amazon.co.uk today announced an expansion of its PickUp Location Programme to include more than 10,500 Post Office branches, taking the total number of Amazon pickup points across the UK to more than 16,000.

Deliveries made to Amazon Pickup Locations nationally have more than tripled in the last year as customers continue to enjoy the convenience that they provide. Through Royal Mail's Local Collect service, shoppers can now have their orders delivered to Post Office branches.

"Customers can collect their Amazon orders from over 16,000 Pickup Locations across the UK," said Christopher North, Managing Director of Amazon.co.uk Ltd. "Pickup Locations have become the delivery method of choice for many shoppers. Offering the collection of packages from Post Offices is another great way of providing our customers with the highest levels of convenience."

Amazon customers select their preferred Pickup Location during checkout at Amazon.co.uk and then present identification at the Post Office branch to receive their parcel. Delivery to Post Offices branches is free for Amazon Prime members. Customers who are not Prime members will be charged First Class delivery rates.

Existing Amazon Pickup Locations include 'Pass My Parcel' stores, Collect+ stores and Amazon Lockers. 'Pass My Parcel' – a result of a collaboration with newspaper and magazine distributor Smiths News, a division of Connect Group Plc – launched in October 2014 and is our fastest service to date, available at more than 500 newsagents and convenience stores. Same day collection allows customers to order as late as 11.45am for collection from 4pm. For a limited time, Amazon Prime members will be able to use this new Same-Day pick-up service free of charge.

Amazon Prime offers members unlimited One-Day Delivery on over 7 million items, access to 500,000 Kindle books to borrow and unlimited streaming of more than 15,000 popular movies and TV episodes through Prime Instant Video – the UK's largest movie and TV streaming service – all for the low price of £79 a year.
